How do free chapters work?
Public stories keep opening chapters free so you can try the writing before you subscribe. If later chapters require support, the chapter page explains the current access rule.
What does a subscription unlock?
Subscriptions are per author at GBP4.99/month. Supporting one author unlocks that author's paid and early-access chapters; it does not unlock every author on Novelith.
How do subscriptions renew or cancel?
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them. Stripe checkout and billing portal screens show the current price, renewal terms, and cancellation controls.
Where do mature-content settings live?
Mature 18+ content is controlled from account settings and stays hidden by default until you explicitly turn it on.
Can I download stories?
Eligible subscribers can download supported chapters or story bundles as plain-text files. The web reader itself is online-only and does not cache chapters for offline use.
Are there ads?
No. Novelith is built around direct reader support, optional tips, and a calmer reading page.
How do reports and moderation work?
Readers can report stories, chapters, comments, author posts, profiles, and unsafe links. Moderators review reports against the platform rules and can hide, remove, or lock content when needed.
I am an author. Where should I start?
Open the creator studio to set up your author profile, create a book, draft chapters, and connect Stripe when you are ready for reader support.
