Cancellation and Refund Policy
How author subscription renewals, billing portal cancellation, refunds, failed renewals, and end-of-contract confirmations work.
1. Subscription renewal
Novelith author subscriptions are recurring web subscriptions. The checkout page shows the author, price, billing interval, taxes where applicable, and renewal terms before you pay. Unless cancelled, the subscription renews automatically using the payment method held by Stripe.
Subscriptions are per author. Cancelling one author subscription does not cancel other author subscriptions, tips, your Novelith account, or any free access you have to public stories.
2. How to cancel
- Sign in to Novelith.
- Open Settings.
- Find the author subscription you want to manage.
- Choose Manage in Stripe to open the Stripe billing portal.
- Use the portal cancellation controls and complete the confirmation steps shown by Stripe.
The billing portal is the self-service place to cancel, update payment methods, and view billing details. We do not ask you to send card details or personal payment information in email or chat.
3. What happens after cancellation
In the usual case, cancellation stops the next renewal. Your paid access continues until the end of the current paid billing period, then the subscription ends automatically. If Stripe reports a subscription as ended immediately, paid access may stop sooner.
When you return to Novelith after using the billing portal, we sync subscription state from Stripe and show an end-of-contract notice in Settings when cancellation or ending is confirmed. We store a durable record with your user ID, author ID, notice type, timestamp, and effective end date where available.
4. Refunds and cooling-off
Subscription payments cover the billing period shown at checkout. Except where required by law, refunds are not automatic once a paid period has started. If you think a charge was made in error, contact support@novelith.co.uk and we will review the transaction.
If consumer cancellation or cooling-off rights apply to your purchase, we will handle those rights according to applicable UK consumer law and the access already supplied.
5. Failed renewals and disputes
If a renewal payment fails, Stripe may retry payment or ask you to update the payment method. Paid access may be paused, restricted, or ended if payment is not completed. Chargebacks, disputes, suspected fraud, or abuse of subscription access may also affect account or subscription status.
6. Help
For billing, cancellation, refund, or end-of-contract notice questions, contact support@novelith.co.uk. Include the author name and approximate charge date, but do not send full card numbers, passwords, authentication codes, or Stripe secret keys.
